The love you send out into the world will come back to you ten-fold.
A portion of every grace + hudson purchase is donated to charity. Every purchase, every day. Giving back to others is one way we can nurture our own souls, and I wanted to build a business with some soul. Try it - the next time you are feeling down and out, give a smile to a stranger who looks like they need one, or buy coffee for the person behind you in Starbucks. I promise you, it'll instantly attract more loving, positive energy your way. A new charity will be selected on a bi-annual basis because we should spread love far and wide!
From now through September 30, 2018, g+h will donate proceeds to Girls, Inc., whose mission is to help girls ages 6 to 18 value their whole selves and discover and develop their strengths. They offer programming, mentorships, and experiences that build the learning, skills, and behaviors that increase confidence and resilience, enabling girls to set and achieve their goals and lead productive, independent, and fulfilling lives. Their motto is "Inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold" and they're supported by the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and many other strong role models.
This organization rings true for me because it wasn't until I learned - for myself - to have confidence in my abilities and dreams that I started to make them happen. While I achieved what many would consider a successful career as an attorney, I felt empty, unfulfilled, and often depressed because I was pursuing what others deemed "successful" and not what I defined as success. When I left my attorney career and started grace + hudson jewelry, my goals, dreams, and most importantly my happiness gave me a new sense of purpose, personal power, strength, and joy. If girls could learn these valuable life skills before heading to college, just think of the things we could accomplish! Think about what the world would look like if everyone was in touch with their special gifts and skills, and using them to fulfill their personal career dreams.
With the "Me Too" movement and all of the energy surrounding women's empowerment, it is so important to invest in the organizations that are teaching young girls how to be strong, smart and bold. When girls grow up with a sense of personal empowerment and demand respect and equal treatment, we will see a true stop to the culture the Me Too movement is bringing to light.
Donations will be made to Girls, Inc. from grace + hudson purchases made between April 1, 2018 and September 30, 2018.
